“Fat Tuesday” is the literal meaning of Mardi Gras when translated into French. Mardi Gras is celebrated in New Orleans in Louisiana.

The annual festivities start on the 6th of January, 12 days after the birth of Christ when the 3 kings are supposed to have visited the Son of Lord. Mardi Grad always occurs before Ash Wednesday hence “Fat Tuesday“.

Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras is a legal holiday in New Orleans for the past 2 hundred years except during the World Wars I and II.

Fat Tuesday comes 46 days before the Easter.Fat Tuesday is also known as Mardi Grad Day or Shrove Day.
