25 Dec

EA Sports yet bring another new gorgeous and awesome app for the  most like game in the world on the iPad and it has the exact amount of fun that you need to play it. FIFA 12 for iPad is just amazing. They have improved the graphics from its previous versions a lot. You can just feel it when you play the game. The game feels realistic.

Information -FIFA 12 has 15000 players to play from, 500 teams to choose from, 22 leagues to play from and 32 stadiums to play in, in this game. It contains your favorite league from Barclays Premier League to LA LIGA. You can either choose  Manchester United or Chelsea or hundreds of teams to play from. Choose from Rooney, Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka, Villa and more!

Manager Mode -EA Sports has brought a mobile version for the iPad from the computers. The game has increased a lot of reputation as it now contains the Manager Mode. You have to choose a team first. You get a certain amount of money to spend on certain clubs, the not-so-popular clubs will have a low amount where as the superstar clubs will be at the highest.

For example, The Goalkeeper coach is upgraded and you will see slight improvements in the playing of the Goalkeeper.

Where’s my Water iPad App Review

17 Dec

The story behind this app is of “Swampy the Alligator” who loves taking a bath. He is always in the sewers while the bad alligators ruin the happiest moments. He needs some help to get the waters through the tunnels, from the dirt, keeping away from the poison, acid, chemicals.

The game offers very life like physics to the user interface which keeps one to keep on playing the game.

When you play the game, you have 3 rubber duckies to get. You can either get 1 or 3, but you have to make sure you have enough to get to the next chapter of the game. Its really easy to get all the duckies, if you get the playing of the game. You have three points to score points on : The number of duckies you collected, time bonus, water overflow. Remember there is no need of any study of physics or chemistry formulas, its just a game.

If you add up all, there are sum of 80 levels split in 4 chapters. The last chapters have some hard and tricky levels which can make you get just a duck sometimes. You can use a reset button anytime in the game if you feel you have done something wrong. One more mystery in the level is there are some levels in which you have to find the objects, which can be hidden anywhere in the dirt. You can know when you have to find an object when a “question mark” appears on the upper left corner.

Moving to the liquids in the game. The green algae in the game can destroy the ducks and the dirt without your finger. The purple acid’s one drop can turn your water into the purple acid. You might need reflexes on this one!

This game offers multitouch to make it easier to complete the levels.

Personally saying, I liked this game very much. It has a want that keeps you on the game for hours. I like to recommend it to all those who are looking for a beautiful game which needs brains and absolutely gives fun!

PROS : Great concept, easy to play, logical thinking, multitouch

CONS: Slider to scroll, Touch too big to handle.

Cost of the app : $0.99

Google Currents for iPhone Review

11 Dec

Google Currents for Tablets & Smartphones shows a currents for iPhone, iPad and Android tablets and smarthpones

Google Currents for Tablets & Smartphones

Cost of the app: FREE

Website:  http://www.google.com/producer/currents

Download : Google Currents on Apple App Store / Google Currents on Android Market

Video introduction to Google Currents -

It seems like aggregated magazine apps are all the rage these days. Due to the size of the screen these magazine apps were launched exclusively for iPad users.  First, it was Flipboard then Zite, then AOL’s Editions and then Yahoo!’s LiveStand.

Trying to make a huge push in mobile and social applications, how can Google remain behind? Google released Google Currents, a magazine app for iOS and Android devices a couple of days ago without any publicity. I was so excited about this app that while lying in bed and ready to sleep I came across a tweet that said that Google had released Google Currents.

Without any further ado, I went to the app store on my extremely slow network and downloaded the app. It’s around 10 MB in size but I fell asleep while downloading it. After getting up, the first thing I did was to try my hands on Google Currents.

Let’s see the screenshots before we go any further. The iPhone screenshots are from when you first open the app.

1. The first screen tells you that it provides free magazines for your smartphones and tablets with a focus on you.

Free personalized magazine for you

2. Google has included a few magazines for free by default to get you up and running. You can either touch the icons to open or add more magazines.

3. Trending topics – you can’t be social without including people, right? Google Currents tells you what is being read by other readers around the world with Trending tab.

Trending topics - to know what people are reading right now!

4.  Learn about the controls. While some of the controls are self-explanatory, Google could have done a better job providing standard icons for sharing and sync.

5. You’re ready to roll. This ends the getting started phase of Google Currents. Click done to enter the app.

Now, whenever Google releases something I have high hopes from them. I’m almost always certain that they’re going to raise the bar in design, aesthetics and it’s trademark – speed. I was expecting something that would completely replace my news & magazine apps but I was sorely disappointed.

The app is slow – When you click an article on your phone you want it to load instantly. No exceptions. You just don’t have the patience to wait 15 seconds before you see any word of it. Google Currents downloads the whole magazine before you can read a word. While it is certainly good for offline reading there should be a setting whereby a user can toggle between offline & online reading.

The controls are confusing – The app just doesn’t feel intuitive. On some screens you can’t see the home icon. On some there’s this list of articles and 3 controls. Sometimes the app starts syncing all by itself.

The design is not good enough for phone reading – Scrolling is not comfortable on a smartphone. I though Google knew that. I would like to give brownie points to Flipboard which has rather successfully implemented the “card deck” mechanism to scroll ( Flipboard review coming soon!). I’m yet to try my hands on the iPad version of the app so I can’t say if this is just the phone thing.

No custom font and size – I know the font Google has chosen is acceptable but still it would be better to have a choice of fonts if only for size. Zite gets fonts and font sizes very well.

There are a few hundred magazines and according to Google all are free. I don’t know if it will be applicable in the near future but right now the collection of magazines is better than most apps out there.

Frankly, it feels like Google was desperate to launch an app and it quickly locked a few developers in a room on a condition that they’ll be released only after finishing an app.

I could have stuck with Google Currents if there were enough reasons to. But right now – I’d wait for improvements for Google Currents before deleting my magazine apps.

Reckless Gateaway for iPhone and iPad : App Review

10 Aug

Reckless Gateaway by Polarbit [$2.99] for iPhone and iPad is an universal app available. I like cars, I like crashes, I like action! Then I would absolutely like this app.

This game focuses on action between the police department and the user. We always like action, even on video games such as GTA. The game story revolves around you robbing a bank and getting away with it. You have 16 amazing tracks to go through.

This game has lots of features. I really liked the controls. They are not complicated. You just have the steering controls and few more for the boosts.

I don’t have much to say about this game, you can actually feel and play this game yourself as this game is cheap.

Game Center is enabled and you can also show your friends your achievements and go right above the ranks.

Sketchbook Pro for iPad App Review

09 Aug

Sketchbook Pro for the iPad by Autodesk Inc. ($4.99) is the ultimate sketching app on the iPad. If you ever wanted to use your finger for great masterpieces, you must definitely buy this app.

The great thing about this app is the whole concept of creating your art work with your finger. Pinch and zoom, the picture can be increased up to 2500 %. You can use tap your three fingers and the controls will pop up on the upper side and the lower side of the iPad.  You have more than 150 brushes. You can smudge, blur or anything your mind has for anything related to painting.

If you look at the image above, you cannot believe that the photo is 100% created by Sketchbook Pro creators.

The game cost is a little bit high for an iPad app because most of the apps we buy are around 99 cents to 2 dollars. Whats good about this app is this app is eco-friendly. You don’t waste any paper at all! You can undo and redo anything you want. You can create masterpieces and blowing art-work with a little practice everything can be done.

When you finish your painting, you can either save it in the gallery of the iPad or even email that to a friend or a family member.

In short, I can say this is the iPad version of the Photoshop with extra little features, the only thing you don’t need is a mouse.

The game size is 15.0 MB.

09 Aug

You have been dreaming of becoming a pilot, you just want the real-touch of it. Maybe you want, or you don’t want. But you do want this app. Flight Control HD by Firemint for ($0.99) is just the app you need. It is the air traffic control game with which you have the touch and you need to get the planes, helicopters to the desired track without getting crashed.

The game’s feel is awesome. You get addicted to the game because it is the game’s interface and great new concept.

You have different planes, helicopters. You have big red airplanes who are at their highest. Small red airplanes are at medium speed. While the helicopters are the slowest in the air traffic control game. You can even speed the game if you have correctly connected the planes to the tracks. The game becomes harder as you progress. The main point is that you get to cancel the route you made and make again a new one. This makes the game a little easier for you to play. The controls are a piece of cake. You just have swype the route to the track and you are good to go.

If you really want to spend your well earned money, you just have the good $0.99 game. Local Multiplayer via Bluetooth and Wi-fi is supported.

The game size is not high but around 15 MB which is easy to download from your iPhone or your iPad.

Zombie Gunship for iPhone and iPad App Review

07 Aug

Zombies getting killed sounds pretty amazing, right? What if it was a bit difficult? Zombie Gunship by Limbic Software is a universal app designed for the iPhone and iPad. The aim of the game is to kill the zombies from a AC-130 ground attack aircraft and save the remaining civilians who are trying to get to the bunker from the zombies.

In the beginning of the game, you get the idea of the game of the civilians being white and the devils from hell being black. When you progress it is extremely difficult to point out who is the civilian and who is the zombie. Either you have to kill them all or you have to be careful doing some killing. You have three types of gun :

• 25mm Gatling gun
• 40mm Bofors auto-cannon
• 105mm Howitzer cannon

Cannons are pretty good for eliminating large groups who are trying to get to the bunker. The gatling gun is used for eliminating the zombies close to the civilians as you get this gun in the beginning. You get bounties for killing out zombies and then you can use that to upgrade your guns or armory. Playing this game feels like a real shooter. You have to quickly swype through the screen as there are 3 ways the zombies can appear.

You also have In-App Purchases for

  1. Pack of 75,000 Coins – $3.99
  2. Pack of 10,000 Coins – $0.99

RIM Blackberry Playbook Tablet – Enterprise Ready

25 Mar

RIM Blackberry known for its phones at enterprise level, the revolutionary company has brought to us the 1st ever enterprise ready tablet, The PlayBook with its own Blackberry Tablet OS. The name itself surprises me, play at work, PlayBook?

It’s not really all enterprise but those who wish to buy this tablet casually, it’s available at $499 with a 16 GB internal storage.(same as iPad (16GB Wifi) ) But sadly doesn’t have a MicroSD card slot, boohoo.

Talking about the things it can do, let me tell you it plays FLASH. Yeah, I know when a tablet says flash. You can actually work just like your computer in a more stylish way. Running on Blackberry Tablet OS, it supports Flash, HTML5, OpenGL, POSIX.  It has a 7” WSVGA Capacitive Touch Screen.

Just like the iPad 2, it supports dual cameras. The front facing is 3 MP and the back is 5 MP which does support HD video recording capture + video conferencing as well.

Blackberry’s Playbook has HDMI and USB port which I suppose iPad doesn’t. Blackberry Playbook’s Memory (RAM) is unbelievable but true, 1 GB of stunning memory and 1 Ghz of dual core processor.

Full Multi-touch/Gesture Support the Playbook kills all the tablets out there. Enterprise ready tablet for $499, now that’s a catch!
