Apple has announced the Apple Ultracompact USB Power Adapter Exchange program. In other words, Apple has just made a recall for the power adapters of its hottest product in the market – the iPhone 3G!
The background for this recall is that Apple, after receiving some reports of detached prong blades? has determined that the prongs of its power adapters can break off and remain in the power outlet and cause a danger for electric shocks.
The countries affected by this recall are the ones that use Amercian styled plugs. The whole list of the countries is here so please verify.
Latin American countries where adapters were sold with iPhone 3G or as a standalone accessory:
- Colombia
- Ecuador
- El Salvador
- Guatemala
- Honduras
- Peru

- Chile
- Costa Rica
- Panama
In the meantime, Apple has urged its customers to restrain the use and utilize alternate methods like computer USB charging or car charging. Note: The users having a green dot on their adapter need not participate in this exchange because it is already determined to be safe.
The replacement starts from October 10 and there are 2 ways to get your replacement
You need to bring the iPhone as well as the adaptor to exchange at the retail stores.
