I came across FREE when I was already starting to read the bible. I’m very fascinated by the mystery that the Bible holds. Not only is the Bible a religious book but also a practical guide to everyday questions about life, business, behavior, dignity and ethics.
Brian lays out his thoughts as it is. His writing style is very clear and often he admits about things which normal people wouldn’t (at least not in a book!) He admits blowing up the mailbox of his teacher and how he “stole†money from a Church fund he looked after.
Not only does he by tell how to live a more free life but also backs it up with quotes from the Bible.
At times, the book feels a little boring. In a chapter Brian, the author admits that they were enjoying beer outside the Church which he is a pastor in. One of the unhappy Church followers writes him back disappointed with his behavior. Brian tries to justify his actions but I didn’l like his act. A religious place should be what it should – free from liquor and other stuff which could have a bad impact on small children.
Overall the book is a fresh perspective on religion from a progressive author. A must read if you don’t agree with everything the Church says.
( I received an advanced copy of this book from the Publisher. In no way has this fact affected my review of the book.)
